Colossians 3:11-17: Living as God's image-bearer

What does it mean to live as a representative of God? While this seems like an overwhelming task, this passage from Colossians narrows it down and makes this responsibility more understandable.

Colossians 3:1-4: The new reality

When we come to Jesus, we experience a brand new reality. Not necessarily a new physical one, but definitely a new spiritual one, which is just as real.

Colossians 2:8-23: Christ's sufficiency overrides others' judgments.

Christ is totally sufficient for us to have a complete relationship with God. And we are now, through Him, totally sufficient to be all that God wants us to be. So now we no longer need to be worried about how others may judge us. We don't need to live up to others' standards because Jesus has made us acceptable to God's standard.

Habakkuk

In a time of uncertain future, the prophet Habakkuk questions God about what will happen. God's answers were very surprising, but provide some lessons for us as well. Studying the prophets is very useful so that we do not repeat the sins and mistakes of the Israelites. (Note: There are some introductory remarks about hiring a youth minister that last about 2 minutes.)

What Destroys the Joy?

Jesus wants us to have joy in our life and in our church. But, too often, we miss the joy of making disciples and moving forward with Him. From the book of Acts, we can learn about getting and keeping that joy that God wants for us.
